Despite a somewhat lacklustre performance in 2016 the smart watch segment is beginning to show signs of growth as we enter the Q1 of 2017.
There have been reports that Apple Watch had not shown the kind of growth expected in 2016 which has led to some conjecture about the smart watch space in general. However some newcomers in the space such as Nixon, Fossil and Tag Heuer, indicate that 2017 may bring about a renewed interest in the space and we could see the adoption rate begin to increase.
Android wear 2 is also scheduled for release at the end of March 2017, which should open up more app development for the platform and increase its appeal to those considering a smart watch upgrade.
